I have talked a bit before about vitamins, but they are an important enough topic that they truly deserve their own post. These wonderful little molecules are simply building blocks our body uses that it typically cannot produce on its own. Therefore, ingesting proper amounts of vitamins will allow your body and mind to function normally, as it has all the materials that it needs.
One thing to remember is that vitamin supplements are not necessary to ensure that you are healthy. If you have an excess of a vitamin, your body will not typically store it, and it will simply pass through. This means that ingesting a vitamin when you are already getting enough of that vitamin will have no effect. A well balanced healthy diet should be plenty to ensure that your body gets all the nutrients and vitamins that it needs. If you plan ahead and are conscientious about what you are eating, you can skip the supplements, and simply get your nourishment the natural way.
However, sometimes certain vitamins can be difficult to get depending on your diet. For example, some vegan populations have been found to be low in vitamin b12, which is important for both your brain and your circulation. In this situation, it can be very helpful to simply take a supplement. Go over your diet in detail, and try to figure out your normal intake of certain vitamins and essential nutrients. If you are struggling to figure out what you might be deficient in, look up your symptoms. You will likely be able to figure out relatively quickly which vitamins might be deficient. Also, feel free to work with a health specialist or doctor, as they will likely be experienced in helping their customers and patients examine their diet and looking for potential deficiencies.
Whether you address any vitamin deficiencies via supplements or dietary changes, the effects can be dramatic and rapid. If you are suffering from a vitamin or nutrient deficiency, try to vary your diet or take a supplement. You might just make a life changing discovery.
